Evan Morrison has been named the GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week for a second consecutive week it was announced by the league office. Morrison continued his torrid offensive pace to open the 2026 campaign, hitting .467 (7-for-15) with a double, two home runs, seven RBIs and five runs scored in a three-game series sweep over Cedarville. In addition, he tallied a .933 slugging percentage and a .500 on base percentage for a 1.433 OPS. Morrison, who collected two or more hits in each game versus Cedarville, drove in five runs in the series opener versus All-American pitcher Jensen Wagoner. He hit a 3-run HR in the third to break a scoreless game and a 2-run single in the top of the ninth with GVSU leading 4-3. In game two of the series Morrison singled home a run with GVSU leading 3-2 and two outs. He closed the series with 3-hit game and now has six multi-hit games on the year. Morrison is 20-for-33 (.606) with 20 hits, four doubles, three triples, two home runs and 10 RBI in seven games.
