Lauren Kiley and Erika Beistle Named GLIAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Great Lakers Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has awarded Lauren Kiley and Erika Beistle Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors following their marks at the GVSU Big Meet. Kiley's season-best in the 3000m and Beistle's record-breaking throw in shot put landed them both the awards.

Lauren Kiley, Jr. – In her second 3000m race of the season, Kiley moves to No. 10 in NCAA Division II with a season-best 9:28.22. The reigning 3000m champ shaved six seconds off her previous season-best (9:34.76) to finish second in the event at Friday's GVSU Big Meet as the top collegiate athlete. At the time of her finish, Kiley ranked seventh all-conditions in DII. The honor marks Kiley's second GLIAC weekly award this season.

Erika Beistle, R-Sr. –  For the fourth time this season, Beistle has been named GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week. The redshirt senior has been on a tear this season, updating her personal-best in the event week after week. Just three weeks ago, she broke the record with a 17.78m (58-4) mark to pass Zada Swoopes's 17.68m (58-0.25) mark from 2022. Most recently, Beistle broke the NCAA Division II record in shot put at this weekend's Big Meet. On her third throw of the day, Beistle rewrote the NCAA Division II record, launching for 18.26m (59-11) and outhrowing Olympian Adelaide Aquilla. With her updated mark, Beistle ranks fifth across all NCAA divisions and 18th in the world.
