Kellen Reed and Mathew Bacik Earn Weekly GLIAC Football Honors

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly football honors and senior WR Kellen Reed (Holt, Mich./Holt) was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while junior place kicker Mathew Bacik (Battle Creek, Michigan./Lakeview) earned the special teams honor.

Reed tied a GLIAC and GVSU single-game record with five receiving touchdowns in the Lakers' 69-3 victory over Wayne State. Reed, who hauled in eight receptions for 177 yards in just a little over two quarters of action, notched 106 yards after the catch in the game. GVSU's first four touchdowns were all attributed to Reed, the first three in the first quarter. His five scoring plays covered 46, 31, 39, 10 and 27 yards. Reed's five TD receptions tied the GVSU and GLIAC single-game mark previously set by David Kircus versus Ferris State in 2001. Reed has 35 receptions for 735 yards and 14 touchdowns, both of which lead the nation. Grand Valley State is 5-0 and ranked #5 in the country.

Bacik was 8-for-8 in point after attempts and kicked field goals of 33 and 28 yards for a total of 14 points. Bacik averaged 57.6 yards on seven kickoffs and the Warriors' average starting field position following a kickoff was the 17.3 yard line. Bacik is 32-for-32 in PATs on the season and 5-for-5 in field goals.
