GVSU Postgame Press Conference
#5 Grand Valley State claimed a 69-3 homecoming victory over Wayne State Saturday afternoon at Lubbers Stadium before a crowd of 12,844. The Lakers improve to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in GLIAC action. GVSU will head to Michigan Tech (4-1, 1-0 GLIAC) next Saturday (Oct. 10) for a 12 noon kickoff at Kearly Stadium.

Kellen Reed hauled in four receiving touchdowns on the Lakers' first four possessions, covering 46, 31, 39 and 10 yards. Freshman running back
Bryce Hurley scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and place kicker
Mathew Bacik kicked a 33 yard field goal as GVSU built a 38-0 halftime lead. Reed hauled in a 27 yard touchdown pass on the Lakers' first possession of the second half giving him five TD receptions for the game and equaling the single-game record held by David Kircus versus Ferris State in 2001. Reed has 35 receptions for 735 yards and 14 touchdowns in five games this season.Â
Bacik added a 28 yard field goal before a series three offensive touchdowns in the fourth quarter that took a total of four plays. QB
Zak Olejniczak went 64 yards in two plays, the final a three yard TD run, RB
Kenneth Jones tallied an 86 yard touchdown run and WR
Kenyon Owens took a short pop pass from Olejniczak 62 yards for a touchdown.Â
Grand Valley State recorded eight touchdown drives that were five plays or less, including five that were two plays or less. The GVSU defense limited Wayne State to 11 first downs and 166 yards of total offense, 60 of which came on one run. The Warriors averaged 2.7 yards per play, while GVSU averaged 11.9 yards per play.Â

Andrew Schuster completed 16-of-24 passes for 224 yards and four touchdowns, while Olejniczak was 3-for-3 for 100 yards and two TDs through the air and rushed for 64 yards and one TD on two carries. Reed hauled in eight receptions for 177 yards and five TDs, while RB
Bryce Hurley rushed six times for 43 yards and caught three passes for 35 yards. RB
