Natasha Sengphrachanh claimed the ITA Midwest regional doubles championship today (Oct. 12) at the ITA regional championships in Allendale.
Briggs and Sengphrachanh posted a perfect 5-0 record over the weekend. The two won the semifinal match this afternoon 9-7 to advance to the championship match. In the final match, Briggs and Sengphrachanh dropped the first set but battled back to force a set three that was moved to indoors due to rain. The two won the third set tiebreak 10-8 to claim the doubles championship.
The doubles pair advances to the ITA Cup hosted in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 4
th. GVSU claimed both the singles and doubles championships at the ITA regional championship this past weekend for the first time in program history.
