Laker Cross Country Sends Squads to South Bend and Saginaw

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State's cross country team splits up this weekend, sending two squads to compete at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, and to the SVSU Red October Invite in Saginaw. Both races take place tomorrow, October 2nd. Nine women and men will be racing in the blue race in South Bend, starting at 10:00am and 10:40am respectively. The rest of the Lakers are running in the open race, both genders race together at 11:20am. The women traveling to Saginaw will race at 4:00pm, with the men racing at 4:45pm.

The Lakers plan on sending 25 men and 25 women to South Bend, and 19 men and 8 women to Saginaw.

Many Lakers plan on returning to the course to race Division I competition in South Bend. Allie Arnsman and Karen Kiratu headline the list for the women, finishing first and second in their season opener at Calvin two weeks ago. Violet Hrabovsky and Daisy Speet look to make their season debuts as well. The men are led by Flynn Pumpa and Noah Selvaraj, becoming the top two finishers at their season opener. 

Over in Saginaw, the men will be led by Carter Livermore, and the women Kyla Roberts, after their finishes at the Calvin Knight Invite in mid-September. Debuts for the Lakers in Saginaw include Justin Hoffman, Jackson Summy,  Lilly Alberts and Georgia Babcock. 

Hosted by Notre Dame and Saginaw Valley State, GVSU's cross country teams will split up and race around the Midwest on Friday. Results and a meet recap will be posted to gvsulakers.com following the conclusion of the races.
