SAGINAW, Mich. – Grand Valley State's women's and men's cross country teams finished second and first respectively at this evening's SVSU Red October Invite hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. The women's squad scored 36 points in the meet, led by Emma Gunnett with a 23:46 finish in the 6k. The men scored a perfect 15 points in the 8000m, led by Tinsae Nelson with a finishing time of 25:31.

RESULTS

Alli Gillispie was the next racer to cross the line for the women, finishing 5th overall with a finishing time of 23:59. Natalie Foltz followed, placing 6th at 24:02. Kyla Roberts, Mackenzie Sellenraad and Kamryn Lauinger rounded out the Lakers with a 12-14-19 finish.

The next man to cross the line after Nelson was Jayden Page, who finished 2nd overall with a 25:31 time in the 8000m, less than a second behind Nelson. Issac Staib was third with a time of 25:33. Justin Hoffman, Connor Reed, Gabriel Connelly and  Dylan Esser filled out the top seven. 

Grand Valley State Cross Country will have a bye week before traveling for a split squad weekend in mid-October, racing at the Bradley Pink Classic and the Muskegon Jayhawk invite, on October 16th and 17th respectively.
