Coming off GLIAC Championship titles, both teams head to Colorado nationally ranked. The women have stood atop of the podium for the last two weeks with three event groups (800m, discus, shot put) leading Division II.

The men head to the Centennial State ranked fourth. Though they do not take the lead in any event, eight squads are ranked in the top five of their respective event with two ranking second (pole vault, high jump).

The Laker ladies have a total of 19 individual entries and two relays competing at the Championships. Twenty one women will compete across 15 total events, including the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

The men will send a total of 22 men to Pueblo. Nineteen individuals will compete in 11 individual events, while another three are competing for a crown in the two relay events.

Just as GVSU's teams lead national rankings, several individual athletes do, as well.

Both lead Division II in the events, while Beistle also ranks third in shot put (16.02m (52-6.75)) across DII. Alaina Diaz is the other athlete to find a spot in the top 10. She ranks eighth in long jump with a 6.41m (21-0.5) mark, coming in at number two in DII.

Aside from the three listed above, 21 individual or relay events have Grand Valley State listed in Division II's top 10. Nine of those marks occupy a top five spot on the list. Klaudia O'Malley leads with two events in the top five; she leads Division II with a 15:42.43 time in the 5000m event and ranks fourth with a 4:18.43 finish in the 1500m.

Three athletes fill the number two spot in their respective events. Jonathan Rankins-James ranks second in high jump with a mark of 2.18m (7-1.75), Brooke Bowers takes second in pole vault at 4.30m (14-1.25) and Maggie Stevenson's 52.95m (173-9) mark grants her second in discus.

Other top five athletes include Maria Mitchell (#3 3000m steeplechase - 10:12.92), Shelby Ulven (#4 hammer - 61.22m (200-10)), the men's 4x100m relay squad (#4 - 39.78) and Michael Griffey (#5 hammer - 64.50m (211-7)).
