ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State's track and field squads open their 2025-26 indoor campaign this Friday as they host the annual GVSU Holiday Open. This year's meet clocks in as the largest Holiday Open in program history with a whopping 1,113 athletes entered in at least one event. More than 1,400 entries will take place from 12 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Lakers have found immense success during indoor track and field season. Since 2000, the women have claimed 26 GLIAC titles, three national championship titles and four national runner-up team titles, while the men have collected 24 conference titles, one national championship and four national runner-up titles. Individual championship titles add up to 37, with 24 claimed by GVSU's women and 13 by Laker men.
Grand Valley's indoor squads head into the 2025-26 season after claiming the men's National Runner-Up title and women's third place finish at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. The titles were accompanied by 23 podium finishes, four individual championships and two individual runner-up titles.
Two of the four 2025 individual champions return to defend their titles this year.

One hundred and thirty-one athletes, 67 men and 64 women, will wear GVSU uniform at tomorrow's Holiday Open. Lakers will be accompanied by more than 900 athletes from schools across the country and beyond, including Charleston (W.V.), Florida Southern, and Windsor. Division I in-state opponents Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Oakland will compete, as well.
