Box Score #11 Grand Valley State claimed a 9-2 non-conference win at Hillsdale College Wednesday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 24-9 overall, while Hillsdale is now 17-16. GVSU will host Roosevelt in a GLIAC four-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m.

The Lakers scored three in the top half of the first. SS Evan Morrison walked, LF Ryan Dykstra singled and 1B Jonas Gulbrandsen doubled to plate Morrison. DH Brendan Guciardo singled home Dykstra and 2B Ayden VanEnkevort scored Gulbrandsen with a sac fly. 

In the top of the fifth RF Ryan Stimac was hit by a pitch with one, 3B Caleb Estrada singled and Morrison followed with an RBI double. Dykstra then came through with a 2-RBI double to push the GVSU lead to 6-0.

GVSU added three more in the top of the fifth. VanEnkevort and C Nick Krstich opened the inning with singles and CF Caden Thelen recorded an RBI single to center. Estrada plated a pair of runs with a triple to left to up the Laker advantage to 9-2. 

Thelen recorded the first four-hit game of his career (4-5), collecting an RBI and a triple, while Dykstra went 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Estrada was 2-5 with two RBI and a triple, and VanEnkevort was 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 

RHP Zach Warren, making the first appearance on the mound in his career, picked up the win in relief. Warren struck out five and did not allow a hit in 3.0 innings of work. Sebastian Talaga went the first three innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Ty Randall picked up the first save of his career, working the final 3.0 innings with two strikeouts
