GVSU Baseball Names Brendan Kelly Pitching Coach

Grand Valley State head baseball coach Jordan Keur announced the hiring of Brendan Kelly as the Lakers' pitching coach. Kelly will begin his duties immediately for a squad that finished the 2026 campaign 48-10 and ranked ninth nationally.

Kelly most recently spent the last year as the IMG Academy associate head coach for the National Team where he was overseeing the day-to-day management of the program. IMG finished the 2026 season ranked sixth in the country by MaxPreps.

"We are excited to bring in a coach with Brendan's background," said Keur. "He brings experience across every facet of an elite-level program and has taken on a wide variety of responsibilities throughout his career."

Originally from Grandville, Kelly spent three years (2022 – 2024) in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, including the 2022 season as the pitching coach at the triple A level. Kelly was Toronto Blue Jays complex developmental coach in Dunedin, Florida for two years.

"I am humbled and extremely grateful that Jordan (Keur) has selected me for this incredible opportunity," said Kelly "I can't wait to get on the practice field with this team and begin to build the relationships that go with a championship level program," added Kelly.

In addition to his professional and high school coaching, Kelly was an assistant coach at Wayne State University (2020-22) where he tutored a GLIAC Pitcher of the Year, Dillion McInerney, and a 16th round Major League Baseball pick in Griffin Kilander.

Brendan and his wife, Grace, are the proud parents of infant daughter Posie.
