Golf In Fourth, Two Individuals Top Leaderboard

NOBLESVILLE, IND. – The Lakers teed off in their final tournament of the regular season this afternoon, playing the opening round of the Ken Partridge Invitational. After 18 holes, the Lakers are in fourth place, with Manuel Cue Vargas and Drew Coble atop the leaderboard.
 
Results
 
Wayne State leads the event at five under, carding an opening round of 283. Drury and Missouri S&T are tied for second with a score of three under. The Lakers are one stroke back of those two, ending day one at two under in fourth place. In fifth was Quincy, who shot one under as a team.
 
Manuel Cue Vargas leads the field, shooting an opening round of 67 (-5), sinking six birdies on the day. One stroke back of him in a tie for second is Drew Coble. Coble carded a 68 (-4), making five birdies. Murphy Kehoe is in a tie for 35th at one over. He shot a round of 73 (+1) with five birdies. Ryan Gallagher finished day one at three over, sinking three birdies in his round of 75 (+3) to sit in a tie for 60th. Bryce Wheeler sits a shot back of him, shooting a 76 (+4) with one birdie to end in a tie for 70th. Charlie Cooley made one birdie in his round of 77 (+5), finishing tied for 83rd.
 
The Lakers will play round two on Monday, then end the tournament with the final round on Tuesday.
