BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team claimed a 5-2 road win over rival Ferris State Friday (March 28) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 9-3 on the season and 3-0 in the GLIAC.
Ferris State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas claimed a 6-4 win at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez dropped a tough 4-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
Anna Soteras and
Ipek Sakiroglu fell 1-6 at No. 3 doubles.
GVSU responded with a dominant effort in singles action.
Neus Ramos claimed a 7-5, 7-5 straight set win at the top singles position.
Anna Soteras tallied a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Estefania Hernandez posted a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu rallied for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Kalomoira Ralli added a 6-3, 7-6 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 1-6, 2-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will close out the weekend on the road tomorrow at Wayne State. First serve is set for 2:00 PM in Detroit, Michigan.
