Box Score DETROIT – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team fell 5-2 at Wayne State Saturday (March 29) afternoon. The Lakers fall to 9-4 on the season and 3-1 in the GLIAC.
Wayne State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Anna Soteras claimed a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 2-6 decision at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez fell 3-6 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu tallied a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Neus Ramos dropped a tough 5-7, 4-6 decision at the top singles position.
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 3-6, 7-6, 2-6 three-set decision at No. 2 sngles.
Anna Soteras fell 6-7, 3-6 at No. 3 singles, while
Rachel Sam dropped a 6-3, 0-6, 7-10 decision at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will be back in action next week when they travel to face Saginaw Valley State next Saturday (April 5) at 1:00 PM. GVSU will return home in two weeks when they host Lake Superior State on Friday, April 11
th at 12:00 PM and Michigan Tech on Saturday, April 12
th at 5:00 PM. Both matches will be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville, Michigan.
