The weekend GLIAC baseball series for the #5 Grand Valley State baseball team at #14 Davenport has a slight change due to the threat of rain and cooler temps over the weekend. The top 20 matchup will now consist of two games Friday (Mar. 28), and one each on Saturday and Sunday. The opening game Friday will begin at 3 p.m., with game two following in 30 minutes. Saturday's (April 1) contest will have a first pitch of 1 p.m., while the finale on Sunday (April 2) will begin at 12 noon. All four games will be played at Farmers Insurance Athletic complex in Caledonia, Mich.
Grand Valley State enters the series 19-5 overall and 3-1 in GLIAC action, while Davenport is 18-5 overall and 4-0 in GLIAC play. GVSU and Davenport are the top two teams in virtually every GLIAC pitching and offensive category. The Lakers enter with a .318 team batting average and a 3.69 team ERA. GVSU has 46 doubles, 29 home runs and 11 triples, while the pitching staff has yielded 35 doubles, eight home runs and one triple. The Lakers are averaging 7.8 runs per game and giving up just 4.5.
