The Eagles tallied the final goal of the period, still trailing 4-2 after 15 minutes.

Ashleigh Rothe put another score on the board for GVSU, notching a goal less than a minute into the second quarter. Ashland then scored two straight to make it 5-4. Shilling and Rothe put an end to that Eagle run with a goal apiece, going back up by three. But the Eagles scored late in the half to make it 7-5 at the break.
