ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's lacrosse team begin their home portion of their 2025 schedule this afternoon, hosting Maryville. A defensive battle for most of the game, the Saints used a 4-0 second quarter to take control and win 10-5.
Maryville scored the first two goals of the game, but
Grace Maddox got GVSU on the board before the end of the quarter. The Saints outscored GVSU 4-0 in the second quarter to lead 6-1 at the break.
They added the first score of the third period, going up 7-1.
Jillian Bingman got one back for the Lakers, getting an assist from
Ashleigh Rothe. The Saints added two more before Bingman struck again for GVSU. Maryville scored the final goal of the third, leading 10-3 after 45 minutes.
In the fourth quarter,
Kendra Swope recorded two goals to cut the deficit in half, but it was not enough to make a comeback.

Jillian Bingman each tallied two goals, with
Grace Maddox scoring the other.
Ashleigh Rothe had two assists, with
Ainsley Shilling notching one. Rothe recorded six draw controls and Shilling posted three.
Kaylyn Cater and
Sarah Krause combined for 13 saves, each playing 30 minutes in the cage. Swope and
Kylie Waeghe picked up four, with
Gracie Bancroft and
Elora Ferrie each tallied three. Waeghe caused three turnovers, Ferrie caused three, with
Tatumn Nyen causing two.
