INDIANAPOLIS, IND.- The Grand Valley State men's 200 freestyle relay closed out the night with a National Champion title and a school record! This relay is the first relay in GVSU Lakers history to take home the National Championship Trophy.
The women are currently sitting at seventh with a score of 158, right behind Tampa (165). The men are in fifth with a score of 186, right behind Indy! The Lakers brought home hardware and below will explain more.
The women's side of the pool and diving dominated day 4 of competition, Lucy Hedley grabbed the runner up position with a time of 4:47.57 in the 500 free. Hedley is an All-American in this event also.
Kelly Shortall touched the wall at 2:04.89 to finish 16th for the Lakers. She was named an All-American.
Kiersten Harmon, Annabelle Nixon, Linda Frick, and Alysa Wager are members of the 200 free relay, They placed 20th with a time of 1:34.27. All members were named All-American.
Maddie Kooistra placed in the top 8 of the qualifying 3 mtr. Dive to make it to the finals earlier this evening. Koositra placed third in the finals of the 3 mtr. with a score of 506.55. Kooistra was named All-American in this respected event. This was also her last Nationals of her collegiate career.
Olivia Kutsche placed 12th in the 3 meter dive with a score of 432.90. She was named an All-American in this respected event.
On the men's side of the pool for the Lakers, Jon Kantzenbach came in 15th for the Lakers with a time of 1:47.10. Kantzenbach is named an All-American.
The members of the 200 free relay include Evan Scotto DiVetta, Esteban Nunez Del Prado, Aaron Dies, and Matt Bosch. They touched the wall at 1:18.10 to take home the National Champion spot for the Lakers. All four members were named All-American.
