Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team improved to 6-0 for the first time since 2017 after defeating Northwood 6-1 on the road Friday (Feb. 21) afternoon.
GVSU swept doubles action to secure the doubles point.
Lucas Gonzalez and
Victor Lopes claimed a 6-2 win at the top doubles position.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov tallied a dominant 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Chimo Minguez and
Patricio Sepulveda added a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 three-set win at the top singles position.
Victor Lopes earned a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Lawrence Ivanov posted a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Jorge Ruiz added a dominant 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Ignasi Garros dropped a tough 6-2, 2-6, 5-10 three-set decision at No. 4 singles.
GVSU will be back on the courts next week when they travel to Florida for three matches. The Lakers will face Charleston next week Friday on February 28
th at 11:00 AM in Lakeland, Florida.
