Men’s Tennis Moves to 6-0 With 6-1 Win at Northwood

Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team improved to 6-0 for the first time since 2017 after defeating Northwood 6-1 on the road Friday (Feb. 21) afternoon. 
 
GVSU swept doubles action to secure the doubles point. Lucas Gonzalez and Victor Lopes claimed a 6-2 win at the top doubles position. Stephen Claassen and Lawrence Ivanov tallied a dominant 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Chimo Minguez and Patricio Sepulveda added a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles action, Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 three-set win at the top singles position. Victor Lopes earned a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 three-set win at No. 2 singles. Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 three-set win at No. 3 singles. Lawrence Ivanov posted a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles. Jorge Ruiz added a dominant 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles. Ignasi Garros dropped a tough 6-2, 2-6, 5-10 three-set decision at No. 4 singles. 
 
GVSU will be back on the courts next week when they travel to Florida for three matches. The Lakers will face Charleston next week Friday on February 28th at 11:00 AM in Lakeland, Florida.
