GVSU Swim and Dive Ready For 2025 GLIAC Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State University swim and dive team is gearing up for the four-day GLIAC Conference Swim and Dive Meet, scheduled for February 19th to 22nd. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. each day, followed by finals at 5:30 p.m.

The No. 5 men's team is in pursuit of their 11th consecutive GLIAC title, while the women aim to capture their seventh GLIAC championship for the 2025 season.

"The GLIAC Championships are right around the corner and we couldn't be more excited," said Head Coach Andy Boyce. "The team is really coming together at the right time and we look forward to seeing lots of records fall next week."

The Lakers had a couple of weeks to prepare for this meet, following a strong performance against the University of Findlay, where they grabbed wins on both men's and women's sides.

On the diving front, the Lakers hosted Albion, Calvin, and Saginaw Valley for a diving invitational two weeks ago, securing 5 first-place finishes. The dive team is hopeful that their momentum will carry them through the GLIAC competition.

"We are looking forward to the conference meet.  This is the one meet we have been focusing on over the last six weeks," said Head Diving Coach, Steve Burciaga. "Besides working on our dive list for the conference meet, each diver is focusing on their dives that need more attention to being more consistent in scoring higher points."

The GLIAC is deep with national qualifiers, with 10 of 17 women and 12 of 19 men divers having qualifying scores.

"I believe this is the most talented diving Conference in the DII Nation, and competing in this meet is great for our confidence going into our national qualifying meet in March," added Head Coach Burciaga.
