ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team returned to the courts and defeated Walsh 6-1 Saturday evening at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improve to 3-1 on the season.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas claimed a 7-5 win at the top doubles position.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Kalomoira Ralli tallied a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez dropped a tough 4-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Neus Ramos earned a 7-6, 6-1 straight set win at the top singles position.
Anna Soteras claimed a 6-1, 6-4 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu tallied a 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Kalomoira Ralli posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Nadia Rodewald added a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 6-4, 4-6, 1-6 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will be back on the courts when they travel to face Northwood next Friday (Feb. 21) at 1:00 PM in Midland, Michigan.
