Women’s Tennis Defeats Northwood 6-1 Friday

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis improved to 4-1 on the season after defeating Northwood 6-1 on the road Friday (Feb. 21) afternoon. 
 
Northwood claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Neus Ramos and Anna Soteras dropped a tough 3-6 decision at the top doubles position. Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez fell 5-7 at No. 2 douvles.
 
GVSU swept singles action to claim the 6-1 win. Neus Ramos claimed a 6-1, 6-4 straight set win at the top singles position. Vale Mozas earned a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at No. 2 singles. Anna Soteras tallied a 7-5, 6-4 straight set win at No. 3 singles. Estefania Hernandez posted a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win at No. 4 singles. Ipek Sakiroglu added a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles. Nadia Rodewald picked up a win by default at no. 6 singles.
 
The Lakers will be back on the courts next week when they travel to Florida for three matches. GVSU will face Charleston next week Friday on February 28th at 11:00 AM in Lakeland, Florida.
