HOUGHTON, MICH. – The GVSU women's basketball team finished out their longest roadtrip of the GLIAC schedule, taking on Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon. The Huskies kept it close through three quarters, before the Lakers used a big fourth quarter to pull away for a 69-51 victory. GVSU is now 22-1 overall and 12-0 in GLIAC play.
Nicole Kamin got things started with a three-pointer 32 seconds into the game, giving the Lakers a lead they would never give up. The two teams traded baskets for a few minutes, then a three from
Ellie Droste put the Lakers up 12-7. A
Rylie Bisballe layup brought the lead up to nine, but a Husky layup just before the buzzer make it 14-7 after one.
After MTU brought it within five, Kamin tripled and made a layup to put GVSU up by double-digits, 21-11. The Huskies quickly cut it back to five points, but the Lakers outscored Michigan Tech 10-5 over the final 4:03 to lead 31-21 at the break.
The Laker lead grew to as much as 12 points early in the second half, but once again, the Hukies had a run in them, cutting it down to six points, but a late jumper from
MacKenzie Bisballe put the Lakers up 49-41 heading to the fourth.
Hadley Miller started off the fourth period with a three-pointer, then MacKenzie sank a layup to quickly put GVSU up by 13. After Michigan Tech got within nine with just over seven minutes to play, a layup from Rylie got the lead back to double-digits on the next possession. The lead would never dip back to single-digits the rest of the way, as that layup started an 13-4 Laker run that closed the game out.

Nicole Kamin led the way with 14 points each, with Vanstee adding eight boards and Kamin having seven.
MacKenzie Bisballe scored 13 points and blocked four shots, while
