Lakers Down Ohio Dominican On The Road

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Behind four players in double-figures and a dominating performance on the glass, the Grand Valley State women's basketball team took down Ohio Dominican 67-49 on the road. GVSU is now 4-0 this season, winning all four by double-digits.
 
With the Panthers holding a 5-4 lead, GVSU went on a 12-0 run, scoring all 12 points in the paints, going up 16-5. After four ODU points, the Lakers went on another run, this one being seven straight points to end the first quarter, leading 23-9.
 
The Laker lead grew to 17 early in the second quarter, but Ohio Dominican rattled off 10 straight points to get within seven at 26-19. After Grand Valley State got back up by double-digits, leading 32-21, ODU once again started to chip away. They cut their deficit back down to seven at the half, making it 35-28 after 20 minutes.
 
Over the first three and a half minutes of the third quarter, both teams traded baskets, with GVSU leading 43-36. From that point on, the Lakers went on a 16-4 run to end the quarter, highlighted by a three from Anayya Davis and Lexi Plitzuweit getting an and-1 layup and free throw, extending their lead to 59-40 at the end of three quarters.
 
Molly Anderson drilled a triple to start the fourth quarter, giving GVSU their largest lead of the day, up by 22 points. The Laker defense stepped up in the fourth quarter, allowing only nine points over the final 10 minutes of action, icing away the fourth win of the season.   
 
Paige VanStee scored a team-high 15 points, adding five rebounds and two blocks. Ava Scanlon totaled 12 points, with both MacKenzie Bisballe and Lexi Plitzuweit contributing 11 points and eight boards. Avery Lay pulled down seven boards and Avery Zeinstra dished out six assists. The Lakers dominated the rebounding battle, beating the Panthers 54-33 on the glass.

The Lakers are back in action on November 25th, traveling to Findlay. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00.
