ALLENDALE, Mich.-  The Grand Valley State women's wrestling team kicks off their '25-26 season at the Pointer open. 18 different Lakers competed in their weight classes and 6 came out on top getting in the top 3 for the open. 

103 lbs – Rayana Sahagun went 3-0 to claim first place.

• Sahagun won by technical fall over M. Bair (UWO), 10-0.

• Sahagun earned a decision over G. Ramirez (AUU), 4-1.

• Sahagun defeated M. Avila (NCC) by decision, 3-2.

117 lbs – Libby Roberts went 4-0 to take first place.

• Roberts won by technical fall over Zhivanna Magdaleno (NMU), 10-0.

• Roberts won by fall over B. Bolek (NCC), 1:53.

• Roberts won by fall over S. Reisel (Unat), 0:46.

• Roberts earned a decision over T. Long (Unat), 11-2.

124 lbs – Aspen Blasko went 2-1 to place second.

• Blasko won by fall over L. Chandler (WC), 1:14.

• Blasko won by fall over C. Qureshi (NCC), 5:16.

• R. Rayome defeated Blasko by fall, 3:25.

131 lbs – Hannah Palise went 3-0 with a first-round bye to claim first place.

• Palise won by fall over L. Morris (NCC), 1:59.

• Palise won by fall over M. Griffin (AUG), 5:31.

• Palise earned a forfeit win over J. Realin (NCC).

160 lbs – Elleni Johnson went 3-0 to take first place.

• Johnson won by fall over O. Hofrichter, 1:56.

• Johnson won by technical fall over S. Bassino, 10-0.

• Johnson won by fall over T. Graveman (NCC), 5:13.

180 lbs – Rihanna Venegas went 3-1 and placed second.

• Venegas won by fall over M. Matuga (ELM), 0:19.

• Venegas won by technical fall over G. Martinez, 10-0.

• Venegas won by fall over M. Yates, 4:39.

• M. Sokolski won by fall over Rihanna Venegas, 0:25. 

The Lakers are gearing up to head to Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, for the Adrian Open. The event will take place at the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center, starting at 9:00 a.m on November 9.Some Lakers will also compete at the Bill Farrell Memorial on November 8 in New York, New York.
