ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's basketball team returned home for the first in three weeks, taking on Parkside for 616 Night. In a defensive struggle for most of the game, the Lakers wore down the Rangers, prevailing 72-43. GVSU is now 19-1 overall and 9-0 in GLIAC play.

After an early bucket from the Rangers, Molly Anderson answered with a three-pointer to give GVSU the lead. With the score tied at six, the Lakers went on a 6-0 run to go up 12-6 with just over a minute to play, then extended it to 15-8 heading into the second quarter.

The Laker lead got pushed to 10 points with two Ellie Droste free throws early in the second quarter. After the two teams traded baskets for a few minutes, Anderson buried another triple to put GVSU up 11. MacKenzie Bisballe hit a late layup to put the Lakers up 33-20 at the break.

Anderson opened the scoring in the second half with her third triple of the night, pushing the lead to 16 points. The lead grew to 20 points shortly thereafter, following a steal and layup from Nicole Kamin, putting the Lakers up 42-22. The Rangers could only cut into the deficit by three heading into the fourth, still trailing 48-31.
