Men's Golfs Ends in 11th at Folds of Honor

GRAND HAVEN, MICH. – The GVSU men's golf team closed out their first tournament of the season this afternoon, taking 11th at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.

Alabama had a fantastic final day, shooting -7 over the final 18 holes to pull away for the win, ending at -12. Illinois came in second at five under, followed by Texas in third at three over. In fourth was Michigan State at +9, with Notre Dame in fifth, carding an eleven over. GVSU was in eleventh, finishing at +40.
 
Drew Coble continued to lead the way for the Lakers, claiming a top-15 position, ending in a tie for 14th. Coble made four birdies in his round of 76 (+5) to finish at three over. Bryce Wheeler came in a tie for 45th at +14 after his round of 70 (-1), sinking four birdies. Also in a tie for 45th was Charlie Cooley, who had three birdies in his round of 73 (+2). After his round of 78 (+7) with four birdies, Andrew Gwilliams ended in tie for 55th at seventeen over. While carding his round of 75 (+4), Manuel Cue Vargas made two birdies to end at +18.
 
The Lakers play at home next week, taking part in the Folds of Honor Challenge at the Meadows Golf Course.
