EMPORIA, KS – The Grand Valley State track and field program is set to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Nationals on Thursday, May 23
rd through the 25
th. This year's championships will be held in Emporia, Kansas at the Francis G. Welch Stadium, hosted by Emporia State University.

Grand Valley State will have a total of 37 individual entries, 19 on the women's side and 18 on the men's. Additionally, the Laker men will have two relay teams competing.
Day one of the NCAA Track & Field Nationals will kick off at 12:30 p.m. (CT) for Grand Valley State, as
Shane Byrne takes on the men's hammer throw. Byrne currently ranks 13
th in Division II with a personal-best throw of 63.81m. In the women's hammer throw,
Shelby Ulven and
Alaina Omonode will be competing at 3:30 p.m. (CT). Ulven and Omonode rank back-to-back in Division II, holding the No.2 and No.3 spot.
Taylor DeHommel will compete in the women's pole vault starting at 3:00 p.m. (CT), DeHommel is currently ranked 10
thin Division II with a personal-best of 4.07m.
On the track, the prelims will begin at 4:50 p.m. (CT) with the men's 4x100m relay. The men's relay team will consist of
Antonio Passarelli,
Nicholas Walper,
Andrew Pizzico, and
Myles Rhodes. The top two teams from each heat plus next four best times will advance to the finals on Saturday, May 25
th.
The 1500m prelims will begin at 5:10 p.m. (CT) starting with the men, followed by the women. Grand Valley State will have three athletes competing, two on the men's side and one on the women's side.
Caleb Futter and
Patrick Lyell will represent the Laker men, while
Klaudia O'Malley take on the women's side. The top four athletes from each heat plus the next four best times will advance to the finals on Saturday, May 25
th.
Myles Rhodes will take on the men's 400m at 5:40 p.m. (CT), where the top athlete from each heat plus the next five best times will advance to the finals.
In the steeplechase prelims, the Lakers will have four athletes competing, one male and three female.
Caleb Futter will take on the men's steeplechase at 6:40 p.m. (CT), followed by
Maria Mitchell,
Kayce Rypma, and
Landyn Howell in the women's steeple at 7:10 p.m. (CT).
Steven Harris and
Fallou Gaye will compete in the 400m hurdles at 7:40 p.m. (CT).
Day one concludes with the women's 10,000m, beginning at 8:50 p.m. (CT). The Lakers will have two athletes competing, led by Abby Vanderkooi and
Madison Ebright.
The Lakers first event begins on Thursday, May 23
