Grand Valley State Athletics announced today a multiyear partnership with Teamworks. The digital software partnership centralizes all student-athlete functions across all 22 sports programs and everyone associated with the daily functions of the athletics staff. GVSU will be a Teamworks Elite partner which is achieved by schools who invest in multiple products within Teamworks' Operating System for Sports.
"Communication is the cornerstone of good leadership and operational excellence, and the Teamworks Elite package of products provides coaches, staff, and student-athletes a comprehensive communication platform that will streamline the large flow of information we have between athletic areas, personnel, and student-athletes," said GVSU Director of Athletics Keri Becker. "We were already an
INFLCR user and were looking at just adding the
ARMS product for NCAA Compliance, but we quickly learned the tremendous value that
Hub would have for department communications and added
Smartabase for electronic medical record keeping and reporting efficiencies," added Becker
"Grand Valley State's athletic department will leverage four Teamworks' products, Hub, ARMS, Smartbase, and INFLCR Verified, to enhance its operations and support its student-athletes.
- HUB: By integrating communication, scheduling, and collaboration tools, the department will ensure seamless coordination among staff and athletes, optimizing efficiency and organization.
- ARMS: With a comprehensive recruiting platform, Grand Valley State will streamline recruitment processes, centralize data, and reduce the risk of compliance violations, bolstering its competitive edge in talent acquisition.
- Smartabase: The implementation of Smartabase's EMR will offer a holistic view of student-athlete health and analytics, enabling the department to make informed decisions and optimize athlete performance.
- INFLCR Verified: Grand Valley State's adoption of INFLCR Verified will empower student-athletes to navigate Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities confidently, maximizing their revenue potential while ensuring compliance with regulations."
"In a landscape where staff and coach burnout is a very real factor, the power of interconnected technology can help alleviate bottlenecks, streamline manual tasks, and ultimately impact retention," said Kevin Barefoot, VP of Business Development. "Grand Valley State University is taking a visionary approach by embracing cutting-edge tech to enrich the student-athlete experience and establish a foundation of success. Teamworks is proud to partner with GVSU and help shape the future of college sports together."
"GVSU Athletics is committed to supporting our student-athletes and staff in maintaining the integrity of the sport," said Associate AD for Compliance, Wendy Wilson. "ARMS Software provides all the tools to help sport organizations streamline team communications, recruiting processes, reporting, and monitor all areas of athletics compliance at a high efficiency. By utilizing the ARMs compliance software, in addition to the other resources in the
Teamworks suite, our student-athletes will more seamlessly transition from recruit to student-athlete to alumni, while streamlining communication and the administrative requirements into one place. We're excited to be more efficient in our work with our cross-campus partners in Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Registrar's Office to continue to provide the best student-athlete experience.
In addition, Smartbase is a key component in the field of athletic training.
"Smartabase is an electronic medical record that provides both the look and expectations that we have for a product in 2024," said Head Athletic Trainer Jim Winkler. "The consolidation of common demographic data across the athletic department will reduce the significant time commitment required of all associated parties. Real time injury trends and options for analytic data collection will be valuable for both coaching and athletic training staffs. We are also anticipating the use of the app which mirrors the desktop for times when we are away from our computers. Proper daily record keeping is a key component in the treatment of student athletes at GVSU and Smartabase will allow us to continue this in a more efficient manner."
