ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team defeated Saginaw Valley State 4-3 Sunday (Apr. 14) afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The Lakers improved to 9-8 on the season and 3-2 in the GLIAC.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Taylor Barrett and
Neus Ramos tallied a 7-5 win at the top doubles position.
Anna Soteras and
Vale Mozas posted a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Vasileia Griva and
Rachel Sam dropped a tough 4-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Anna Soteras claimed a 7-6, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Rachel Sam tallied a 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Vale Mozas posted a 7-6, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Vasileia Griva lost a tough 2-6, 1-6 decision at the top doubles position.
Taylor Barrett dropped a tough 7-5, 2-6, 4-6 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
Neus Ramos lost a tough 7-5, 2-6, 4-6 three-set decision at No. 4 singles.
The Lakers will be home for the final two regular season home matches of the season. GVSU will host Lake Superior State on Friday, April 19
th at 12:00 PM and Michigan Tech on Saturday, April 20
th at 5:00 PM. Both matches are scheduled to be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club but could be moved to the GVSU Tennis Courts depending on weather.
