GVSU Baseball Set For First Pitch On Florida Trip

The Grand Valley State baseball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Jordan Keur, will open a six-game swing at the RussMatt Invitational around the greater Orlando, Florida area. The Lakers, 6-1, will open with a Wednesday doubleheader versus Minnesota Duluth. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. in Auburndale, Florida at the Lake Myrtle Complex. 

GVSU is coming off a weekend series at Indianpolis, who was the Midwest representative at the 2023 NCAA DII Baseball World Series, where they won the series 2-1. Grand Valley State won the opener, 5-3, and the series finale 7-4. Senior SS Connor Schuman was tabbed the GLIAC Player of the Week for his performance versus the Greyhounds. Schuman hit .444 (4-for-9) with two home runs, a double, four RBI, four walks and a stolen base. In the series finale that GVSU won 7-4 Schuman was 2-for-2 with a solo HR in the first inning, two runs scored, one RBI and three walks.
