GVSU Concludes Florida Trip With 12-8 Win Over Wayne State (Neb.)

Box Score Grand Valley State claimed a 12-8 victory over Wayne State College (Neb.) Sunday morning, improving to 8-5, while Wayne State falls to 12-5. The Lakers will next be in action at Seton Hill (Mar. 15-16). 

GVSU struck first when MacArthur Graybill tripled in a pair of runs, however, WSU struck for five runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the second. CF Kyle Nott drove provided a 2-out single in the second and 3B Jonas Gulbrandsen hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth to make it 8-4. 

The Lakers broke the game open in the top of the sixth with eight runs on six hits. SS Connor Schuman provided a 2-run double and Nott tied the game when he crushed a 2-1 pitch over the fences for a 2-run home run to tie the game. GVSU wasn't done as Gulbrandsen and Ryan Dykstra singled, Graybill walked to load the bases and Justin Mansager and Brendan Guciardo singled in runs, while Jake Rydquist walked with bases loaded. Ayden VanEnkenvort drove in the final run with a sacrafice fly. 

Al Thorington was dominant, yielding just two hits with seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work to earn the win.

Nott was 2-4 with three RBI and a 2-run homerun, while Schuman was 2-5 with 2 RBI. Gubrandsen was 2-4 with three runs, Dykstra was 2-5 with two runs, Guciardo was 2-5 with one RBI and Graybill drove in a pair with a triple
