GVSU Announces 2024 Football Schedule

Six home dates in 2024, including West Florida and Ferris State

02.06.2024

Grand Valley State, the two-time defending GLIAC Champions, released its 2024 football schedule. The ledger features six home games, including a return to Lubbers Stadium for Ferris State and the Lakers heading back to Saginaw Valley State. The GLIAC rotation of the schedule changed due to the addition of a new GLIAC member, Roosevelt.

Season tickets sales for the 2024 football season will open on Wednesday, February 7. Tickets will be available for purchase at gvsutickets.com or by calling 616-331-3200 M-F 9 am – 4 pm. GVSU has led the nation in Division II football attendance for 12 consecutive years and set a GVSU single season record for attendance with 100,882 in 2023. Due to high demand for Laker football tickets, fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets early for the best available seats.

"Our schedule is once again extremely challenging in 2024," said second-year head football coach Scott Wooster. "In terms of the non-conference slate, we have a new opponent in Central State that we have not played since 1987, a return to Colorado State-Pueblo, Division III football power in Wisconsin-La Crosse and a first-time meeting with Division II national power West Florida. You then roll into a seven-game GLIAC schedule that is a grind week-to-week when you face some of the best teams in the country," added Wooster.

Grand Valley State will open the 2024 season at home versus Central State on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. The final game of a four-game series will then take GVSU to Colorado State-Pueblo on Saturday, Sept. 14. Family Day 2024 will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 when the Lakers host Wisconsin-La Crosse at 7 p.m. The national DII game of the week will take place Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. when GVSU will host West Florida at Lubbers Stadium.

The Lakers will open GLIAC play at Davenport on Oct. 5, followed by the Homecoming contest versus Northern Michigan on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. The Battle of the Valley's will return to Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 19, before the Anchor-Bone Classic on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. versus Ferris State. GVSU will host Wayne State in the regular season home finale on Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. The Lakers will hit the road for a Nov. 9 contest at Michigan Tech and then close the regular season Nov. 16 at Roosevelt.

Grand Valley State finished the 2023 campaign with an 11-2 record and ranked No. 3 in the final Division II poll.
