INDIANAPOLIS – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team opened up their spring schedule with a dominate 6-1 win over McKendree on the campus of Indianapolis. The Lakers improve to 2-0 on the season, while McKendree falls to 0-1.
 
On the doubles side, Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos claimed a 7-5 victory at the top doubles position. Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam tallied a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas completed the sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
On the singles side, Vasileia Griva notched a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at the top singles position. Rachel Sam claimed a 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 three-set win at No. 2 singles. Neus Ramos tallied a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 3 singles. Estefania Hernandez claimed a 1-6, 6-4, 10-6 three-set win at No. 5 singles, while Vale Mozas added a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
 
The Lakers will conclude the weekend on Saturday (Feb. 3) when they take on Indianapolis on the road. First serve is set for 3:00 PM.
