Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision at Indianapolis Saturday

Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team fell at Indianapolis 5-2 Saturday (Feb. 3) afternoon. The Lakers drop to 1-2 on the season. 
 
Indianapolis claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Jorge Ruiz and Chimo Minguez tallied a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles. Sean Miller and Victor Lopes dropped a tough 5-7 decision at the top doubles position. Freddy Cossio and Lucas Gonzalez lost a tough 3-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
 
On the singles side, Victor Lopes earned a 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 three-set win at No. 4 singles. Jorge Ruiz claimed a 7-5, 7-5 straight set victory at No. 6 singles. Denys Zamaraiev dropped a tough 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 decision at No. 2 singles. Chimo Minguez lost a tough 4-6, 5-7 decision at No. 5 singles.
 
The Lakers will be back in action next weekend on the road when they travel to face Tiffin on Friday (Feb. 9) at 11:00 AM. GVSU will close the weekend at Findlay on Saturday (Feb. 10) at 4:00 PM.
