Grand Valley State swept a non-league doubleheader from Gannon in Xenia, Ohio at the Athletes In Action complex, taking game one 10-1 and game two 12-1. The two teams will complete the four-game series on Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
Game 1 - The Lakers plated two runs in the bottom of the first. Senior CF
Kyle Nott singled and advanced to second when the leftfielder bobbled the ball. Nott advanced to third on flyout and scored on a double to right center by senior RF Nate Logan. Logan then scored on an error by the rightfielder. GVSU batted around in the third inning, adding five runs on five hits. Nott opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the leftfielder and third on a throwing error by the first baseman. Catcher

Jake Rydquist doubled home Guciardo and DH
MacArthur Graybill singled home Gulbrandsen. Rydquist scored on a groundout by 2B

Connor Schuman singled home Graybill. Â GVSU added three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth on three hits.
Senior RHP
Nick Rutkowski picked up the win, yielding two runs on two hits in six innings of work. He retired 11 consecutive batters at one point and tallied nine strikeouts. Junior LHP Al Thorington retired Gannon in order in the seventh. Nott was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Graybill was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Dykstra was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.Â
Game 2 - Nott and Guciardo produced one-out singles, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a 2-out, 2-RBI single from Gulbrandsen. GVSU added a run in the second on four consecutive walks. DH
Justin Mansager opened the fourth inning with a single and scored on a groundout by Dykstra. Gulbrandsen hit a solo HR in the fifth and added a 3-run HR in the sixth when the Lakers scored six runs. Collin Bradley picked up the win, holding Gannon hitless in 4.0 innings of work with four strikeouts. Senior LHP
Will Goebel and senior RHP tallied back-to-back three strikeout innings in the fifth and sixth.Â
Gulbrandsen was 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs scored and two home runs, while Nott was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Dykstra was 1-for-3 with two RBI.Â
