ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's team claimed a 5-2 win over Lewis Friday (Feb. 23) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improved to 4-3 on the season.
Lewis claimed the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Estefania Hernandez and
Vale Mozas claimed a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Taylor Barrett and
Neus Ramos dropped a tough 4-6 decision at the top doubles spot.
Vasileia Griva and
Rachel Sam lost a tough 5-7 decision at No. 2 doubles.
On the singles side,
Vasileia Griva claimed a 7-5, 7-5 straight set win at the top singles spot.
Rachel Sam rallied to a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Anna Soteras tallied a 7-5, 6-4 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Neus Ramos recorded a 7-5, 6-3 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Estefania Hernandez posted a dominant 6-2, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Taylor Barrett dropped a tough 4-6, 3-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will close out this week's homestand tomorrow (Feb. 24) when they host Northwood. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
