ALLENDALE - The Grand Valley State women's team improved to 5-3 on the season after defeating Northwood 6-1 Saturday (Feb. 24) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Taylor Barrett and
Neus Ramos tallied a 6-1 win at the top doubles position.
Vasileia Griva and
Rachel Sam posted a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Vale Mozas and
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play,
Vasileia Griva claimed a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 three-set victory at the top singles position.
Anna Soteras tallied a 7-5, 6-1 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Neus Ramos posted a 6-4, 6-3 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Estefania Hernandez recorded a dominant 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Vale Mozas added a 6-3, 7-5 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Taylor Barrett dropped a tough 6-4, 3-6, 3-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
The Lakers will return to the courts when they travel to California to take on Azusa Pacific on Monday, March 4th. First serve is set for 2:30 PM.
