Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team closed out this weekend's road trip with a 5-2 victory over Findlay Saturday (Feb. 10) evening. The Lakers improve to 2-3 on the season.
GVSU swept doubles play to claim the doubles point.
Sean Miller and
Victor Lopes tallied a 7-5 win at the top doubles position.
Chimo Minguez and
Jorge Ruiz recorded a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov claimed a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Sean Miller posted a 6-0, 3-0 win at the top singles position.
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-4, 7-5 straight set victory at No. 3 singles.
Jorge Ruiz recorded a dominate 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
Stephen Claassen tallied a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Victor Lopes dropped a tough 1-6, 6-7 decision at No. 3 singles.
Chimo Minguez fell 6-7, 3-6 at No. 4 singles.
The Lakers will be back on the courts next week when they travel to face Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana on Thursday (Feb. 15) at 11:00 AM. GVSU will then return home for their first home match of the spring season on Friday (Feb. 16) when they host Walsh. First serve is set for 12:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
