GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – The 12th ranked GVSU women's volleyball team overcame a slow start tonight versus Davenport to pick up their 13th straight win. The Lakers knocked off the Panthers in four sets to improve to 21-1 overall and 10-1 in GLIAC play.

GVSU dropped the first 18-25, but rebounded to win the next three 25-17, 25-12, and 25-15. The Panthers got out quick in set one, building a 7-4 lead. The Lakers battled back to take an 11-10 lead, eventually building to 16-14. From there it was all Panthers, as they finished the set on an 11-2 run to take game one.

Set two saw the Lakers starting fast, going up 7-2. Davenport tied the set at eight off a 6-1 run. The two teams stayed close, with GVSU holding a 12-11 advantage. The Lakers got hot from there, going on a 13-6 run to end the set and tie the match at one.

With both teams tied at three to begin the third set, the Lakers went on a 10-1 run, highlighted by six kills and two blocks. They never looked back from there, not letting the Panthers back into the contest and cruising to the set three win.
