FARMINGTON, PENN. – The GVSU men's golf team teed off for their final tournament of the fall season this morning at the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin. After the second round was called early due to darkness, the Lakers are just one stroke back of the lead.
Results
North Georgia had a fantastic second round, carding a -13 before it got called for darkness, to end the day in first at eight under. GVSU and UMSL are both tied for second at seven under. The Lakers shot -3 in the first round, and they were -4 in the second. Host Findlay is fourth at +4, with Hillsdale and Ashland tied for fifth at +11.
Manuel Cue Vargas leads the pack after day one, sinking 10 birdies to finish at -7.
Bryce Wheeler is tied for sixth at two under, making six birdies. In a tie for 11
th is
Drew Coble, who made six birdies to end that day at one under.
Charlie Cooley sank three birdies to finish in a tie for 29
th at seven over.
Jan Eckhard is in a tie for 33
rd, making six birdies.
The Lakers finish out round two tomorrow, then will play the third round afterwards to finish out the tournament.
