ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team swept Ferris State 7-0 Saturday (April 8) afternoon to stay undefeated in the GLIAC with a 5-0 record. The Laker women improved to 12-5 overall on the season.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ana Romero Gonzalez and
Amanda Diaz tallied a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Vasileia Griva and
Taylor Barrett dropped a tough 3-6 decision at No. 1 doubles.
On the singles side,
Vasileia Griva claimed a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 1 singles for her 11
th singles win of the season.
Taylor Barrett earned her 11
th singles win of the season with a 7-6, 6-3 straight set win at No.2 singles.
Rachel Sam tallied a 6-1, 0-6, 7-5 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Anna Soteras claimed her 11
thsingles win of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Estefania Hernandez earned a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Amanda Diaz added a 6-4, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will conclude the regular season on the road next weekend when they travel to the Upper Peninsula to face Michigan Tech on Thursday (April 13) at 2:00 PM and Lake Superior State on Saturday (April 15) at 2:00 PM.
