HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team improved to 6-0 in the GLIAC and 13-5 overall with a 5-2 victory at Michigan Tech Thursday (April 13) afternoon at Gates Tennis Center.
Michigan Tech swept doubles action to claim the doubles point. Vasileia Giva and
Taylor Barrett dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez dropped a tough 6-4 decision at No. 2 doubles.
Leonie Leister and
Sophia Hanover fell 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Taylor Barrett improved to 12-5 in singles action with a 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Rachel Sam claimed singles win number 11 on the season with a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Anna Soteras earned a 7-5, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4 singles to improve to 12-5 in singles action on the season.
Estefania Hernandez tallied a 6-4, 7-5 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Ana Romero Gonzalez added a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will look to close out a perfect GLIAC regular season and claim when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for the final match of the regular season against Lake Superior State. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
