Grand Valley State split a GLIAC doubleheader Saturday at Purdue Northwest, recording a 14-10 comeback win in game two after dropping a 5-4 decision in game one. The Lakers, now 25-12 overall and 12-8 in GLIAC play, will conclude the four-game series Sunday with a single 9-inning affair. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

Purdue Northwest scored six runs in the bottom of the first, five of which were unearned. GVSU scored one in the top of the second when on a LF
Kyle Nott pushed across a run with a groundout. RF Nate Logan singled home Nott in the fourth after he reached on a HBP with two outs, followed by a
Connor Schuman walk. Schuman added the Lakers' third run on an error by the catcher. The Pride added a run on a solo HR to up the lead to 7-3.Â

Jake Rydquist singled with two outs in the top of the fifth, followed by a
Logan Anderson RBI double. Purdue Northwest answered again with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to up the lead to 10-4.Â

Nott hit a solo HR in the top of the sixth and GVSU then exploded for five runs on six hits in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 10-10. 1B Connor McCormack opened the inning with a double and advanced to third on a single by C
MacArthur Graybill. Rydquist plated McCormack and Anderson doubled home Graybill. RF
Justin Mansager singled home Anderson and
Connor Schuman singled home Mansager to close the scoring in the seventh.Â

The Lakers added four runs in the top of the eighth on two hits and two PNW errors. Graybill opened the inning with a single and scored on an Anderson single. 3B Jonas Gulbrandson then homered to left to give the Lakers a 14-10 lead.Â

The Laker bullpen was sensational, yielding just four runs on eight hits with 11 strikeouts.
Nino Puckett yielded four runs, three earned, in 3.1 innings of work with one strikeout, followed by freshman
Josh Schell who worked 2.0 innings. Schell gave up one run on one hit with two strikeouts. The winning pitcher,
Will Goebel, was stellar in his three innings of work. Goebel struck out eight and did not yield a hit.Â
