ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State baseball team continues conference play when they host Parkside and #12 Wayne Stae for the home openers. The Lakers will face Parkside on Sunday (April 2) at 1:00 PM and Wayne State on Monday (April 3) at 1:00 PM at the GVSU Baseball Field.
The Lakers are 14-6 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC entering the home doubleheaders. GVSU opened their GLIAC schedule with a doubleheader sweep against Saginaw Valley State last weekend winning game one 3-2, and game two 10-1 at Cornerstone University. The Lakers then split a doubleheader against Purdue Northwest before falling at Davenport earlier this week.
Sophomore
Jonas Gulbrandsen leads the team and ranks third in the GLIAC with a .400 batting average. Gulbrandsen leads the team with six doubles and is second with 15 runs batted in. Junior
Connor Schuman has notched a .380 batting average on the season and leads the team with .467 on-base percentage and a 1.007 OPS. Freshman
Ayden VanEnkevort leads the Lakers with 16 runs batted which ranks sixth in the GLIAC.

Nick Rutkowski leads the GLIAC with four wins on the season and is second with a 1.64 ERA including three complete games. Sophomore
Colby Phipps has also posted four wins on the mound this season and has notched a 3.24 ERA. Senior relief pitcher
Sam Leck has recorded two saves for the Lakers which is tied for second in the conference.
Parkside enters Sunday's doubleheader with a 7-12 overall record and 1-3 GLIAC mark. This week the Rangers split a GLIAC doubleheader against Davenport losing game one 5-1 and winning game two 7-6. Parkside then lost at Lewis in a regional nonconference matchup 10-2. The Rangers are led by junior infielder Andrew Harris who has notched a .408 batting average ranking second in the GLIAC. Harris also leads his team with three home runs, .673 slugging percentage, and 1.114 OPS. Junior outfielder Daniel Llanas has posted a .375 batting average with a team leading 17 runs batted in, while sophomore outfielder Angel Rades leads the Rangers with 22 runs and a GLIAC leading 14 stolen bases.
Parkside's pitching staff has tossed a 7.32 team ERA on the season. Starting pitcher Chris Conrad leads the staff with 21.1 innings pitched in six appearances posting a 5.06 ERA. Relief pitcher Andrew Sumner has made seven appearances with a 3.52 ERA in 7.2 innings pitched.
Wayne State enters Monday's doubleheader ranked as the number 12 team in the country. The Warriors are 17-3 overall and first in the GLIAC with a 5-0 mark. Wayne State has won their last five games and 12 out of their last 13. Graduate infielder Chris Tanderys leads the GLIAC with a .425 batting average and leads his team with 31 hits, 29 runs batted in, and three home runs. Graduate outfielder Hunter DeLanoy has notched a .400 batting average ranking tied for third in the GLIAC including a team leading 22 runs scored and nine doubles.
The Warrior pitching staff has notched a 2.96 team ERA led by senior starter Karter Fitzpatrick who is 4-0 on the season and ranks third in the GLIAC with a 1.78 ERA. Fitzpatrick leads the rotation with 28 strikeouts and 25.1 innings pitched. Sophomore Griffin Kilander has posted a 4-1 record in six appearances recording a 2.01 ERA with 16 strikeouts. Senior Ryan Korolden is 2-1 this season in five appearances with a 3.05 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
