GRAND RAPIDS – The Grand Valley State women's team improved to 3-0 in GLIAC play after defeating Davenport 5-2 Friday (March 31) afternoon at Grand Rapids Racquet Club. The Lakers improve to 10-5 on the season.
Davenport claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles.
Ana Romero Gonzalez and
Amanda Diaz claimed a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Vasileia Griva and
Taylor Barrett lost a tough 4-6 decision at No. 1 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez dropped a tough 6-7 decision at No. 2 doubles.
On the singles side,
Vasileia Griva claimed a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win at No. 1 singles.
Taylor Barrett earned a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Rachel Sam tallied a 6-0, 7-6 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Amanda Diaz added a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Anna Soteras lost a tough 6-1, 3-6, 5-7 three-set decision at No. 4 singles.
The Lakers return to the court tomorrow (April 1) when they continue GLIAC play at home against Purdue Northwest. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
