GRAND RAPIDS – The Grand Valley State women;s team improved to 4-0 in GLIAC play after defeating Purdue Northwest 6-1 Saturday (April 1) evening at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improve to 11-5 overall on the season, while Purdue Northwest drops to 8-8.
The Lakers claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Vasileia Griva and
Taylor Barrett earned their ninth doubles win as a doubles pair after a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Amanda Diaz and
Ana Romero Gonzalez tallied a dominant 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez dropped a tough 5-7 decision at No. 2 doubles.
On the singles side,
Vasileia Griva claimed her tenth singles win of the season after a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 1 singles.
Taylor Barrett earned her tenth singles win of the season after a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Anna Soteras tallied her tenth singles win of the season after a 6-1, 6-4 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles, while
Amanda Diaz added a dominat 6-1, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will return to the courts next week Saturday (April 8) when they host Ferris State for senior night. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
