GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team opened up the 2023 spring schedule Saturday (Feb. 4) against #8 Indianapolis at the MVP Athletic Club. The Lakers fell 6-1 and drop to 0-2 on the season, while Indianapolis improves to 2-0.
Indianapolis claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Leonie Leister and
Rachel Sam claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Vasileia Griva and
Taylor Barrett dropped a tough 4-6 decision at No. 1 doubles.
On the singles side,
Rachel Sam claimed a 6-3, 7-6 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Anna Soteras dropped a tough 6-7, 0-6 decision at no. 4 singles, while
Vasileia Griva lost a tough 2-6, 4-6 decision at No. 1 singles.
The Lakers return to the courts next weekend when they host Walsh on Friday (Feb. 10) at 12:00 PM and Findlay on Saturday (Feb. 11) at 5:00 PM. Both matches will be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
