GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team defeated Walsh 6-1 Friday afternoon (Feb. 10) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improved to 1-2 on the season and will face Findlay tomorrow (Feb. 11) at 5:00 pm at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
GVSU swept doubles play to the earn the doubles point.
Taylor Barrett and
Vasileia Griva earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Amanda Diaz and
Anna Soteras tallied a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Taylor Barrett earned a 6-2, 6-1 straight set win at No. 1 singles.
Vasileia Griva claimed a 6-1, 6-0 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Rachel Sam earned a hard fought 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 three-set win at No. 3 singles. Sam is now 3-0 in dual matches this season.
Anna Soteras tallied a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, while
Amanda Diaz earned a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
