ALLENDALE—The Grand Valley State men's basketball swept the season series against Northern Michigan with an, 81-75, victory on Saturday inside of the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

The Sawyers (Lakers) won in the final minutes again on Saturday. Holding on to a two-point lead with 1:08 on the clock,
Chinedu Kingsley Okanu went to work in the paint and made a hook shot to put GVSU up four.Â

On the next possession, GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year Max Bjorklund fumbled a pass and turned the ball over. The next Sawyers' (15-9, 9-5 GLIAC) possession came down to the end of the shot clock and
Trevor Smith made a floater to push the GVSU lead to six points. GVSU would hold on to the lead and claim its second victory against Northern Michigan (18-7, 10-5) this season.

Marius Grazulis dropped a career-high 24 points, taking advantage of countless mismatches in the post. He went 10-for-14 from the field, collected seven rebounds and had a team-high five assists.
Daniel Kiely scored eight points and led the Sawyers in rebounds with eight.Â

Okanu scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds as well, helping the Sawyers control the post.
Isaiah Carver-Bagley scored 12 points, nine of which came from the free-throw line.

GVSU won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Wildcats, 37-32. The Sawyers also outscored Northern Michigan in the paint, 40-36.Â

It's the eighth time this season GVSU has scored 80 points or more, and it is 7-1 when it accomplishes that feat. GVSU also is 13-1 when it outshoots its opponents like it did on Saturday.Â

GVSU returns to action at 8 p.m. on Thursday with a matchup against Saginaw Valley in University Center.
